Brief Outline Key Facts History

Brief Outline

Designed by HA Ivatt, for the LMS, this mogul type mixed traffic engine was first built in 1947 at Horwich.  43106 was built at Darlington and delivered new in 1951 to South Lynn shed on the M&GN.  It is the last survivor of the original LMS designed series, though there are 3 examples of the closely related BR standard class 4MT in preservation.  Originally fitted with a tender tablet catcher for the single line token, further details appeared in joint line 150, (Summer 2011).  See  also Ivatt and Riddles Locomotives, Haresnape, B. 1977 Ian Allen (Section 5 p46)
