Hunslet saddle tank no 1982 - Ring Haw. Ring Haw has been a stalwart performer since its arrival in 1971. It is currently undergoing major boiler repairs.

Brief Outline

0-6-0ST - 1982 Ring Haw was built by Hunslet in 1940 and all of its working life was spent at Nassington Quarry, Peterborough. It was purchased by NNR plc and arrived on the NNR in 1970.

A scheme for repairs to the boiler is to be agreed with the Boiler Inspector and contrac tor.

December 2007

Work is underway at Chatham in Kent on the boiler which should be returned in New Year for restaying, with a view to returning to traffic in the spring.
Some cracking has been discovered in the inner firebox corners this is being ground out and welded before any work commences on the outer steel box.
