one stage of British steam history could be found far
afield virtually at Lands End to John O'Groats. The book

history. The book puts the GWR's output in to
perspective and records the means by which it was
achieved from the viewpoint of both the workers

tell the sad storey of the last days of steam power on
the Eastern Region. His pictures show that while steam
locomotives weren't finally withdrawn from the Eastern
Region until the mid 1960s, the 1950s were their swan

hat were in service were mostly designed for shunting
