Helping the Museum

-

There are several ways in which you can help the Museum.

Volunteering:

If you have the odd day free and are not looking for anything too arduous and enjoy meeting people, why not become a Museum steward? Stewards man the Museum on a rota basis, looking after our visitors and answering their questions about the Museum and its displays. New volunteers work alongside old hands until they are confident in their capabilities. As with most volunteering roles on the Railway, how many stewarding days you do is entirely up to you.

Donating documents and artefacts:

The M&GN Society was formed in 1959 and began collecting items for the proposed Museum. We now have quite a large collection, but there are still many gaps left to fill in our stated aim to tell the story of the railways in East Anglia and particularly that of the M&GN. If you have items you wish to donate, or know of someone else who is prepared to pass on such items, please get in touch. You can be assured that any such items accepted by the Museum will be held in trust and displayed when possible for the education of generations to come.

Cash donation:

If you are considering making a cash donation to the Society, or leaving an amount in your will, then please consider the Museum as a suitable area to support. Extra monies are always needed to improve the standard the displays and to provide better storage conditions, as well as enabling us to better conserve various individual artefacts and even to purchase new items when necessary.
