Unique.
The
latest item in the JHCF fleet.
It was built 1881 by the Birmingham Railway
Carriage Works (BRCW) for the Lynn & Fakenham railway, which became the
Eastern Midlands Railway in 1883 and then the M&GN in 1893.
It was used for the Breakdown
train based at Melton Constable as a riding van for the breakdown crew.
It had a tool box at one end and a veranda at the other.
It was withdrawn in 1945 and has been used as a garden shed
since. The toolbox and the veranda were missing, these have been
remanufactured and will soon be fitted.
A ex-royal Navy under frame has been converted to the brake van length. The
latest photo shows
the vehicle painted and lettered, to reflect Eastern and
Midlands ownership and later form of lettering after the
formation of the "joint". |
